Frequently asked questions
What is EFT?
According to the founder of EFT, Gary Craig, "Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is an emotional, needle free version of acupuncture that is based on new discoveries regarding the connection between your body's subtle energies, your emotions, and your health. EFT has been reported successful in thousands of cases covering a huge range of emotional, health and performance issues. It often works where nothing else will."
I don't live in Nelson - how can i have a session with you?
Skype or phone sessions are just as effective. I will teach you the tapping points during a session - it's easy! Many clients have experienced profound improvements through skype sessions. For more info about Skype sessions click here.
I'm used to affirmations being stated in the positive. Why does some EFT language focus on the negative?
In EFT we use honest descriptive statements to acknowledge the issue. Touching the difficult issue with our awareness, while tapping at the same time, gives the 'blocked energy' the opportunity to move on and rebalance. This process is like removing the weeds from a wild tangled garden - tapping makes the weeds come out easily. We also use positive phrases to 're-plant' the garden, including statements of self-acceptance, forgiveness, and what you wish to experience in the future.
Where can I learn to do EFT for myself?
I personally use EFT most days to deal with everyday stresses, and everyday when dealing with an acute or chronic issue. I freely share it with friends and family when they are in need. You can use EFT effectively for yourself too.
You can learn basic EFT through one-on-one sessions with me, or at a training workshop, or by watching the official EFT DVDs from Gary Craig. Also see www.annawilde.com/page_contents.php
How do people feel during and after a session?
It’s different for everybody. Some people feel happy and laugh a lot during a session, while others may cry or experience a range of other emotions. Tears are a welcome clear sign that we’re making progress and ‘stuck energy’ is moving. It is the practitioners job to keep you feeling safe and in control of what is going on.
How many sessions are usually required?
Certain issues vanish in just one session. However in most cases 3-4 sessions over 4-8 weeks is enough to notice significant changes and improvements. I recommend you try one session and see how we 'fit' as a team and to sense how our work together provides positive benefits.
What if EFT doesn't work?
Often EFT can work quickly and easily, bringing seemingly miraculous results. However EFT is not always an instant fix and persistance may be required to change challenging issues. Chronic conditions may be rooted in emotional causes and contain multiple aspects needing focus and resolution. In almost all cases EFT can help healing to happen faster. That said, no therapy or therapist is a guaranteed cure-all.
“Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn't you - all of the expectations, all of the beliefs - and becoming who you are.” Rachel Naomi Remen

| “I went past the abuser’s house on the weekend and he was working outside. I didn't have my usual reaction of wanting to kick him in the balls. I just couldn’t get angry! My mind just went on to other stuff. Wow. Amazing." |
